About BURNING SHADOWS
BURNING SHADOWS, formed early in 2000 by Tim Regan, Greg Jones, Brian Knesel, & Vincent Vinh, has breathed new life into the dying DC/Baltimore, MD metal scene. The band's sound, obviously influenced by Iced Earth, Testament, and Megadeth among others, conjurs visions of days long forgotten. Burning Shadows is treading on a path rarely taken by American bands today; with epic after epic, the band explores the myths of the ancients to the realms of HP Lovecraft, and back again. An ever growing local following has supported BURNING SHADOWS since the beginning.
Following the recording of two EPs, The Darkest Winter (2002), and Amongst the Dying Waves (recorded 2003, released 2005), BURNING SHADOWS weathered numerous lineup changes. Brian left the hall for good in May 2003. Vincent was hot on his heels. Matt Ibach was brought in to pound the hammering bass and Trevor von Deathcrush to reap upon the drums. Trevor left the band in 2005 to pursue less mighty interests. The mighty Dave "Warlord" Spencer was brought down upon the throne to perform shows and record the album in the summer of 2006. Alex Rudinger then usurped the throne as the Warlord traveled westward to complete his education. With the winter came new bassist Aaron El-Zeftawy to slaughter alongside the rest of the warriors. On the vernal equinox of 2008, The Warlord (Dave) returned.
Recording for Into the Primordial began at RexRiot Recordings in summer of 2006. Much of the recording was complete when the studio abruptly broke contact with BURNING SHADOWS. After a nearly year-long delay, the recordings were liberated from the original studio and completed at the Halls of Glory under the direction of guitarist Tim Regan. Lead Guitarist Greg Jones, who stepped up to handle live vocal duties in 2004, makes his recorded debut as lead vocalist on Into the Primordial.
Opening slots for bands such as Sonata Arctica, Therion, Testament, Seven Witches, and Overkill have exposed the band to yet more true metal followers. Live covers of Iced Earth, Manowar, or Blind Guardian reaffirm to any who have not yet been convinced of the might of these metal masters. The band is always ready to bring the metal onslaught to those who have not yet been lured into the army of the Shadows!
BURNING SHADOWS fought in the Battle to Open PaganFest and defeated 9 other bands; the victory was rewarded with the single opening slot on the nationwide PaganFest America 2 Tour at Jaxx in West Springfield, VA.
